150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi : Thousands of Gandhi on ‘Padyatra’ on the roads of Chhattisgarh’ capital city

‘Padyatra’ on the theme of ‘Bachcha Bachcha Gandhi’ was organized today, wherein thousands of children from more than twenty schools dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi took out a procession from Jaistambh Chowk to Gandhi Maidan of Raipur. Children were accompanied by Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Member of Rajya Sabha Mr. PL Puniya, MLA Mr. Mohan Markam, Mr. Kuldeep Juneja, Mayor Mr. Pramod Dubey, and a large number of public representatives, citizens, officials and employees in the ‘Padyatra’.

Procession was followed by a massive public gathering at historical Gandhi Maidan. In his address to the public gathering, Chief Minister said that in year 1933, Father of Nation had addressed general assembly on the same ground. Today, thousands of children dressed up with ‘dhoti, laathi, topi’ followed the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi. At the onset, Chief Minister welcomed the children dressed as Mahatma Gandhi at Jaistambh Chowk and praised their get up. He said that Mahatma Gandhi gave us the message of truth and non-violence, and we have to reform Chhattisgarh and the entire country by following the footsteps of Gandhi ji. On the occasion, Chief Minister also distributed cloth bags, to encourage people for minimizing use of plastic bags.

MP Mr. Puniya said that it was heart-warming to see children dressed as Gandhi Ji. Gandhi Ji’s vision would come true only when we reform our society with truth and no-violence. Not only India, many international movements have been inspired from Gandhi Ji’s ideals and principles.

Chief Minister was overjoyed to see children enthusiastically participating in ‘Padyatra’ dressed as Gandhi Ji. He picked up speech and hearing-impaired boy Honey from Kopalvani School and blessed him for his enthusiasm. Chief Minister wished bright future to all the students.
Chief Minister paid floral tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. On the occasion, Raipur Division Commissioner Mr. GR Churendra, Collector Dr S Bharatidasan, Jila Panchayat CEO Mr. Gaurav Kumar Singh, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Shiv Anant Tayal.
