Artists from abroad countries and other states were deeply impressed by the hospitality given in Chhattisgarh

Raipur,29 December 2019/ Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that National Tribal Dance Festival will be organized every year. The event will coincide with Rajyotsava. Rajyotsava will be of five days. In the first two days, local artists of the state will showcase their art. The National Tribal Dance Festival will be organized for the remaining three days.

Shri Bhupesh Baghel said that for the first time, artists from India and abroad have shared the stage together in the National Tribal Dance Festival held in Chhattisgarh. In the three-day festival, large number of tribal artists presented their art and culture through dance. Artists from 25 states and three union territories gathered together in the program. The festival gave people a chance to know about the tribal cultures of India and abroad. The festival gave the message of ‘unity in diversity’. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel was addressing the closing ceremony at Science College ground this evening. He said that the indelible impressions of the artists from India and abroad will always be in our hearts.

Chief Minister Shri Baghel said that when I thought about organising this event, there was a doubt whether it would be successful or not, but our cabinet colleagues, officials, folk artists, media representatives and the people of the state together made it a huge success. I congratulate everyone for the successful organisation of the Dance festival. He further said that Chhattisgarh played an important role in every era. Lord Rama’s maternal grandfather was here in Treta Yuga and Ram spent most of his exile in Chhattisgarh. There is evidence of Krishna-Arjuna coming here in Dwapar. Sirpur has been a major center of Buddhist knowledge and education during the Buddhist period. Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh fought against the British in 1857 during the freedom struggle. The tribals raised their voice against exploitation of the British by performing the jungle satyagraha. Many great person including Baba Guru Ghasidas and Pandit Sundarlal Sharma have significant contributions in the field of social reform here.

He said that in the last fifteen years, the real identity of Chhattisgarh was disappearing. As soon as our government was formed, we tried to revive the glorious tradition and festivals of Chhattisgarh and attempted to fulfil the dreams of our ancestors. Our government waived the loans of farmers and also purchased paddy at Rs 2500 per quintal, the highest price in the whole country.

He said that our forefathers dreamt of prosperous and strong Chhattisgarh. We have tried with people’s support to realize this vision.

He said that the art and culture of Chhattisgarh is unique. Karma, Gaur dance, Panthi, Sua dance have their own importance. The National Tribal Dance Festival has helped to make people aware of culture of Chhattisgarh, not only in India but abroad also.

Observing the widespread public support and popularity of the tribal dance festival, Shri Bhupesh Baghel announced to organize tribal dance festival every year with Rajyotsava.

Maharashtra will also organize tribal dance festival along the lines of Chhattisgarh

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Shri Nanabhau Patole, said that the Government of Chhattisgarh has worked to create an awareness about the art and culture of the tribals. He appreciated the loan waiver and purchase of paddy by the Chhattisgarh government to help the farmers. Mr. Patole said that C.P. Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha regions were together at the time of Berar. He said that this type of initiative will also be taken in Maharashtra to create awareness about tribal culture.

Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr. Charandas Mahant said that Saint Kabir and Baba Guru Ghasidas ji have given the message of unity, peace and harmony. He said that this festival aimed to provide a glimpse of the tribal culture to the people. He congratulated for organizing the tribal festival in a very short time. Mr. Mahant said that we want such an opportunity to come again and again.
In due course, this festival should be organized as International Dance Festival.

Culture Minister Shri Amarjeet Bhagat gave the welcome speech and Minister of Industry Shri Kavasi Lakhma gave the speech of thanks at the end of the program.

It is worth noting that 1800 Artists from 25 States and 3 Union Territories, countries like Bangladesh, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Belarus and Maldives gave more than 125 enchanting performances in the National Tribal Dance Festival organized for the first time by the Government of Chhattisgarh.

The unique confluence of tribal art and culture continued for three days. The artists here enjoyed each other’s culture very much. On the last day of the dance festival, artists from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Chhattisgarh gave performance.

At the same time, Shilpagram, Chhattisgarhi cuisine and departmental stall became the center of curiosity.

Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Shri Manoj Mandavi, State Health Minister Shri T.S. Singhdev, Home Minister Shri Tamradhwaj Sahu, Agriculture Minister Shri Ravindra Choubey, School Education Minister Dr. Premsay Singh Tekam, Forest Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar, Revenue Minister Shri Jaisingh Agrawal, MLA Shri Mohan Markam, Shri Vikas Upadhyay, President of Bastar Tribal Development Authority Shri Lakeshwar Baghel, Chief Secretary Shri R.P. Mandal were present during the program.
