Chhattisgarh Fencers Shine in Foil Girls’ Individual Event Knockout Round

The 31st National Junior Fencing Championship commenced with a spectacular march past at Agresen Dham, Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Three players from Chhattisgarh advanced to the knockout round in the Foil Girls’ Individual event.

Inaugurating the event, honorable MLA Motilal Sahu of Raipur Gramin praised the state-level arrangements for athletes, expressing gratitude to the Chhattisgarh state government. The athletes were sworn in by national player Rashman Kaur Dhiman.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Fencing Association Secretary Ajit Singh Patel welcomed approximately 800 participants, including players and officials, to the national event.

In the individual foil competition today, three Chhattisgarh players—Yukti Dubey, Deepanshi Netam, and Bhoomika Sahu—excelled in the league stage and progressed to the knockout round, showcasing impressive performances.

Yukti Dubey defeated Trisha Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh 5-0, Sonali Patel from Odisha 5-0, and Gujarat 5-4, securing a spot in the knockout round. Deepanshi Netam defeated opponents from Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab, reaching the knockout stage. Bhoomika Sahu defeated teams from Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Bihar to reach the knockout stage, while Maya Sahu triumphed over Manipur.

In the boys’ individual foil category, Chhattisgarh’s Himanshu Netam, Ishaan Jayaswal, and Jarnadan Sahu qualified for the knockout round.

The Chhattisgarh Pradesh Fencing Association thanked everyone for their excellent performances in the competition.
