1000 acres of land allocated to Ministry of Defense for Army Cantonment, says CM

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has written a letter to Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, requesting setting up of long pending army camp at Bilaspur at the earliest.
Drawing the attention of the Union minister towards the development of the state, the Chief Minister has written that the state has allocated about 1000 acres of land to the Ministry of Defense for the establishment of the Army Cantonment in Bilaspur. The process of setting up this army camp is pending.
Initially, requirements of the airstrip were stated along with it for setting up the Army Cantonment. In view of the aviation requirements of the region, the state government has developed the airstrip and completed the necessary procedure. Bilasabai Caveen Airport, Bilaspur is now recognized by DGCA in 3C VFR category. Now this airstrip is available to cater to the aviation related requirements of Civil Aviation and the Army.
The Chief Minister has written that commercial passenger services are starting from Bilaspur on March 1. The state government is keen on setting up an army camp at Chakrabhata, Bilaspur. The establishment of army cantonment in the state will not only speed up the proper development of this area, but also the opportunities for army service will be readily available to the youth of the state. The presence of Army Cantonment in the state is also expected to be helpful in the direction of eradication of Naxal extremism.
Baghel has said that in view of the benefits to the State Government and the Central Government from the establishment of the Army Cantonment, the State Government wants to urge the Ministry of Defense to expedite its establishment. In this direction, the state government is also ready to consider other related requirements of the Ministry of Defense and the Army. In this context, the State Government is ready to work with the Ministry of Defense and I look forward to your cooperation.

मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल ने केन्द्रीय रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह को पत्र लिखकर बिलासपुर में थल सेना की लंबित छावनी की शीघ अतिशीघ्र स्थापना करने का अनुरोध किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने केन्द्रीय रक्षा मंत्री का ध्यान राज्य के विकास की दिशा में राज्य में सैन्य संस्थानों के विकास के प्रयास की ओर आकर्षित करते हुए लिखा है कि- राज्य ने लगभग 1000 एकड़ भूमि रक्षा मंत्रालय को बिलासपुर में थल सेना छावनी की स्थापना के लिए आबंटित की हुई है। इस थल सेना छावनी की स्थापना की प्रक्रिया लंबित है।
आरंभ में थल सेना छावनी की स्थापना के लिए इसके साथ हवाई पट्टी की आवश्यकताओं को बताया गया था। राज्य सरकार ने इस इलाके की विमानन आवश्यकताओं के दृष्टिगत. इस हवाई पट्टी का विस्तार कराकर आवश्यक प्रक्रियाएं पूरी कर ली है। बिलासाबाई केवटींन हवाईअड्डा. बिलासपुर अब डीजीसीए द्वारा 3सी वीएफआर कैटगरी में मान्यता प्राप्त । अब ये हवाई पट्टी सिविल एविएशन एवं थल सेना की विमानन संबंधित आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिये उपलब्ध है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने लिखा है कि आगामी एक मार्च से बिलासपुर से व्यवसायिक यात्री सेवाएँ आरंभ हो रही है। राज्य सरकार चक्रभाठा, बिलासपुर में थल सेना छावनी की स्थापना के लिए उत्सुक है। राज्य में आर्मी छावनी की स्थापना से न केवल इस इलाके के समुचित विकास में गति आएगी बल्कि थल सेना सेवा के अवसर राज्य के युवाओं को सहजता से उपलब्ध भी होंगे। थल सेना छावनी की राज्य में उपस्थिति मूलतः नक्सलवादी उग्रवाद के उन्मूलन की दिशा में सहायक होने की भी आशा है।
बघेल ने कहा है कि थल सेना छावनी की स्थापना से राज्य सरकार एवं केन्द्र सरकार को होने वाले लाभों के दृष्टिगत, राज्य सरकार रक्षा मंत्रालय से इसकी स्थापना शीघ्रातिशीघ्र करने के लिए आग्रह करना चाहती है। इस दिशा में राज्य सरकार रक्षा मंत्रालय एवं थल सेना की अन्य संबंधित आवश्यकताओं पर भी विचार करने के लिए तैयार है। इस संदर्भ में रक्षा मंत्रालय के साथ कार्य करने के लिए राज्य सरकार तत्पर हैं एवं मैं आपसे सहयोग की आशा करता हूँ।
