CM Baghel announces hike in honorarium of Manjhi-Chalki and other officials
Renovation of Manjhi Bhavan at Jagdalpur announced
Chief Minister unveiled various gifts at Muria Durbar of Bastar Dussehra. Mr. Baghel won hearts by announcing hike in the honourariums of various office-bearers including Manjhi-Chalki.
On the request of MP and Bastar Dussehra Samiti Chairman Deepak Baij, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel made 20 announcements. He announced that application would be collected from all Manjhi Chalkis and they would be provided forestland rights certificates within six months. Likewise, Honorarium of Manjhis has been hiked from Rs 1350 to Rs 2000 per months, and that of Chaalkis has been hiked from Rs 675 to Rs 1000, whereas honorarium of executive members has been hiked from Rs 1000 to Rs 1100 and honorarium of 21 pujaris has been increased from Rs 3000 to Rs 3500, annual honorarium of Rs 15000 to Gurumaya and Bhandar-Devi priest, Munda Baja player, Mohari Baja player and seven members of worship, Rs 11 thousand to people who do Jogibithai, and honorarium of total Rs 42 thousand has been announced for the the chariot-making party.
Baghel announced recruitment on Manjhi-Chaalki vacancies within 6 months, upgrading of Manjhi Bhawan in Jagdalpur and fulfillment of other demands of Chalkis within 6 months.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Baghel said that Bastar holds the record of celebrating the world’s longest festival. This festival, which is celebrated for two and a half months every year, was celebrated for three and a half months this year. Bastar Dussehra is the longest running festival of the world, and not just India. This event is popular across the country and abroad, a major attraction for a large number of foreign tourists.
Describing Bastar’s passion for freedom, he said that Raja Gaindsingh was hanged here in year 1824, long before the commencement of India’s freedom struggle in 1857. This event sparked the rebellion in Bastar, and its flames later spread across the country.
Saluting all the gems of Chhattisgarh including the first martyr Veeranarayan Singh, Chief Minister said that Bastar played a special role in the independence of the country. People from tribal communities of Dantewada, Kanker, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kondagaon and Kanker come all the way to participate in this event. Along with the celebrations, discussion on social progress is also held at Muria Durbar. Chief Minister praised the tribal community’s resolve to plant trees as compensation for cutting the trees to build chariots for Bastar Dussehra.
Speaking about the poor, tribal and farmer friendly policies, Chief Minister said that after formation of the new government, farmers were given loan waiver and paddy was procured at Rs 2500 per quintal. Under the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, paddy, maize and sugarcane farmers are being provided an amount of Rs. 10,000 per acre. Two installments under the scheme has already been transferred. The third installment will be released on November 1.
Chief Minister said that in Lohandiguda we have returned 42 hundred acres of land to 1700 tribal farmers, wage at the rate of Rs 4000 per bag is being given for tendupatta collection in Chhattisgarh. To ensure sustainable income for forest dwellers, 31 minor forest produce are now being procured at the support price, instead of 7. He said that during lockdown, state government arranged for procurement of minor forest produce through self-help groups. Our government created a record of employing 26 lakh people per day during lockdown, under MNREGA.
Chief Minister praised Mr. Deepak Baij, MP and Chairman of Bastar Dussehra Committee. He said that he is living up to his responsibility as the chairman of Bastar Dussehra Committee. Praising Bastar Dussehra Committee and the district administration for the successful organization of this mega festival during Corona crisis, Chief Minister said that not only all the rituals of this festival were organized systematically, security arrangements during the event were also at par. On this occasion, Tribal Welfare Minister and in-charge Minister of Bastar district, Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam and Industry Minister Mr. Kawasi Lakhma also addressed the public.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel released the photograph of Jhanda Manjhi on the occasion. Chief Minister felicitated Manjhi, Chalki, members and employees of the Bastar Dussehra Committee with certificates, for their cooperation in organizing Bastar Dussehra.
On this occasion, members of the Bastar royal family Mr. Kamalchand Bhanjadev, Parliamentary Secretary and Jagdalpur MLA Mr. Rekhachand Jain, Chairman of Handicrafts Development Board and Narayanpur MLA Mr. Chandan Kashyap, CREDA President Mr. Mithilesh Swarnakar, President of Fisheries Board Mr. M.R. Nishad, Mayor Smt. Saphira Sahu, Municipal Corporation President Smt. Kavita Sahu and many public representatives were present.
