Journalist Security Law to be enacted in Chhattisgarh soon

Committee to tour across the state from November 16 to take suggestions for the format

To ensure security of journalists in Chhattisgarh, Journalist Security Law will be implemented soon. For this, the committee chaired by Justice Mr. Aftab Aalam, Retd Judge Supreme Court has prepared a draft for the proposed law. And to take suggestions and feedbacks from journalists, journalist unions and common people on this draft, the committee will tour across various parts of state from November 16 to November 18.
The committee will have discussion on this draft with journalist and journalist unions from 12.30pm to 2pm at special guest house Pahuna on November 16. On the same day, discussion with common people will be held at Pahuna from 3.30pm to 5pm. In the same way, the committee will hold discussion on November 17 at Circuit House Jagdalpur from 11.30am to 1.30pm with Journalist and Journalist Unions and from 3pm to 4pm with common people. On November 18, the committee will reach Ambikapur and have discussion with journalists and journalist associations from 12.30 to 1,30 and with common people from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Hindi and English version of Draft Chhattisgarh Journalist Security Law is available at Directorate of Public Relation’s website www.dprcg.gov.in. In case of any ambiguity, English version shall prevail.
It is known that State Government has decided to implement Journalist Security Law so as to empower journalists so that they may be able to write without fear. In the same sequence, a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Justice Aftab Aalam, retired judge of Supreme Court to form Journalist Security Law. The committee includes Justice Mrs. Anjana Prakash retired Judge High Court, Mr. Rajuram Chandran Senior Advocate Supreme Court, Advocate General Chhattisgarh High Court, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary Law Department, Mr. Ruchir Garg Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Lalit Surjan, Chief Editor Dainik Deshbandhu and senior journalist Mr. Prakash Dubey from Nagpur as members.
