New Guidelines: No objectionable posts to social media

The central government on Thursday issued guidelines for social media platforms, digital media organizations and OTT streaming services. The law has been changed in this. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that social media companies were welcome to do business in India, but it adopted double standards. The new guidelines released for social media platforms, digital news organizations and OTT streaming services are as follows. He informed that there are 53 crore WhatsApp in India, more than 40 crore of Facebook and more than 10 million users on Twitter. They are used a lot in India, but it is important to work on the concerns that are there. He said that the Supreme Court had asked to make guidelines regarding the content to be put on the online platform. On the direction of the court, the Government of India has prepared guidelines regarding this. Important laws made for social media will be implemented within three months, so that they can improve their system. The rest of the rules will come into force from the day of notification.
Important points:
– Social media intermediaries will have to appoint a complaint officer, who will file a complaint in 24 hours
– Content containing nude, morphed photographs of women to be removed in 24 hours
– Press Council Code will now be followed by Digital Media after Print Media
– OTT and digital news media have to disclose their details. There should be a uniform justice system on all media platforms.

केंद्र सरकार ने गुरुवार को सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म, डिजिटल मीडिया संगठनों और ओटीटी स्ट्रीमिंग सेवाओं के लिए दिशा-निर्देश जारी किए हैं। इसमें कानून में बदलाव किया गया है। केंद्रीय मंत्री रविशंकर प्रसाद ने कहा कि भारत में व्यापार करने के लिए सोशल मीडिया कंपनियों का स्वागत किया गया था, लेकिन इसमें दोहरे मापदंड अपनाए गए। सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म, डिजिटल समाचार संगठनों और ओटीटी स्ट्रीमिंग सेवाओं के लिए जारी की गई नई गाइडलाइन इस प्रकार है। उन्होंने जानकारी दी कि भारत में व्हाट्सएप के 53 करोड़, फेसबुक के 40 करोड़ से अधिक और ट्विटर पर एक करोड़ से अधिक यूजर्स हैं। भारत में इनका काफी इस्तेमाल होता है, लेकिन जो चिंताएं हैं उसे लेकर काम करना जरूरी है। उन्होंने कहा कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने ऑनलाइन प्लेटफॉर्म पर डाले जाने वाले कंटेंट को लेकर गाइडलाइंस बनाने के लिए कहा था। कोर्ट के निर्देश पर भारत सरकार ने इसके लेकर गाइडलाइंस तैयारी की हैं। सोशल मीडिया के लिए बनाए गए महत्वपूर्ण कानूनों को तीन महीने के भीतर लागू किया जाएगा, ताकि वे अपने तंत्र में सुधार कर सकें। बाकी नियमों को अधिसूचित किए जाने के दिन से लागू होंगे।

– सोशल मीडिया बिचौलियों को शिकायत अधिकारी नियुक्त करना होगा, जो 24 घंटे में शिकायत दर्ज करेगा
– 24 घंटों में महिलाओं की नग्नता, मोर्फेड तस्वीरों वाली सामग्री को हटाया जाना है
– प्रिंट मीडिया के बाद प्रेस काउंसिल कोड अब डिजिटल मीडिया द्वारा Follow किया जाएगा
– ओटीटी और डिजिटल समाचार मीडिया को अपने विवरण का खुलासा करना होगा। सभी मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म्स पर समान न्याय प्रणाली होनी चाहिए।
