Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel has made a major announcement in the interest of women of the state, on the occasion of Teeja-Pora festival organized at his residence today. Chief Minister has announced that the overdue loans of all the women self-help groups will be waived off so that they can take loans againn to start new economic activities. Besides, Chief Minister has also announced a five-fold increase in the budget sanction for the loans provided to women groups every year. After taking the initiative to ensure justice to the farmers and laborers, Chief Minister has taken this innovative step to bring justice to women in the state, fulfilling another promise on his manifesto.
On the occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Phoolodevi Netam said that ever since the new government took charge in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, there has been an unprecedented increase in the economic activities of women self-groups, which has paved the way for economic self-reliance for women. It is noteworthy that nearly one lakh women self-help groups have become ineligible to get a new loan, as their previous loan is overdue. She requested Chief Minister that if the previous loans of women self-help groups are waived off, then they would be able to take the new loan and start their economic activities afresh. Mrs Netam also requested that the budget sanction for providing loans to women self-help groups every year should be doubled so that more and more women can avail the opportunity to become self-dependent. In response to the request of Mrs. Netam, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel made the aforementioned announcement as a gift to the women self-help groups.
