Shaheed Gend Singh’s sacrifice unforgettable: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel attended the tribute ceremony of Shaheed Shiromani Gend Singh organized by the All India Halba-Halbi Adivasi Samaj Mahasabha, Balod at Village Godalwahi of Churia Development Block. Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel paid homage to Shaheed Gend Singh. He said that Martyr Gend Singh revolted against the British at Parlakot in 1824 AD and on 20 January 1825, while fighting the British, he was martyred. Chief Minister announced to install a statue at Rajnandgaon in remembrance of the sacrifice by Shaheed Gend Singh.
Chief Minister said that the sacrifice of our forefathers has to be told to the next generation. Special efforts are being made to keep the ancient tradition and culture of Chhattisgarh intact. For the preservation of tribal tradition and culture, a museum and research hall will be constructed on 10 acres of land in Nava Raipur. At the same time, works are being done for the preservation of Devguri and Ghotul. Hareli, Karma, Teeja, World Tribal Day and Bhakt Mata Karma Jayanti have been declared as holiday , so that our identity remains intact.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced the construction of an Ashram, Hostel and School at Godalwahi. He said that it has been decided to declare support price of Kodo-Kutki in the state, this will benefit farmers of tribal areas including Rajnandgaon, who cultivate Kodo-Kutki on a large scale. He said that in order to improve the economic condition of the people of Vananchal, fruit trees are being planted instead of timber trees, so that mango, amla, tamarind, chironji, harra-bahra etc. can be mass produced and the people living around the forests get benefit out of it. We are also starting the work of value addition to minor forest produce, so that our forest produce collectors can get more benefits. He said that the forest dwellers got financial support by the purchase of mahua at support price of Rs. 30 during the Corona period.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, while mentioning about the distribution of 3 months free 35 kg rice to the consumers of the state under the public distribution system during the Corona crisis, said that this brought great relief to the people. Employment was given to 26 lakh families daily under MGNREGA, which is a record in itself. He said that the progress and prosperity of every person of Chhattisgarh is the priority of the government. With a view to make the malnourished children of the state nourished and to improve the health of anemic women, the Mukhya Mantri Suposhan Yojana is now being run in the entire state. The scheme has yielded good results. One lakh children have come out of malnutrition. For the creation of a strong Chhattisgarh, it is necessary for children and mothers to be healthy. This scheme is playing an important role in building healthy Chhattisgarh. 52 English medium schools have been started in the state so that children of poor families can also get free education in English medium. Chief Minister gave detailed information about paddy purchase on support price and Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana and said that the fourth installment of Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana will be given to farmers in the month of March.
The Minister of Women and Child Development Department Mrs. Anila Bhendia said that the tribals are connected with water, forest and land. Shaheed Gend Singh worked for the protection of the tribals and to prevent their exploitation. Food and Culture Minister Shri Amarjeet Bhagat said that the government is working to keep Chhattisgarh’s honor and culture alive. MLA Khuji Smt. Channi Sahu said that Chief Minister has increased our pride by coming to this area. Education is necessary for development of society and unity is required to organize the society. Chairman of All India Halba-Halbi Adivasi Samaj Mahasabha Balod, Mr. Leman Singh Karbagian, underlined the contribution of Martyr Gend Singh in the war of independence. Virendra Masia gave a welcome address at the beginning of the program. Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Kunwar Singh Nishad, Chairman Backward Classes Development Authority Mr. Daleshwar Sahu, President Zilla Panchayat Mrs. Geeta Sahu, Mayor Mrs. Hema Deshmukh, other public representatives and collector Mr. Topeswar Verma and Superintendent of Police Mr. D.
